Festival of Leaves started in 1971 as a parade with vendor tables set up in the local schools. More than five decades later, it pulls visitors from across Northern Virginia, the DMV, and the whole Shenandoah Valley into a downtown wrapped in peak fall color, and it has been voted a Best Annual Event for good reason.
