Vendor Spotlight: Shelly Cook — Reitano Vineyards

We first visited Reitano on a relaxed afternoon, enjoying a glass of wine on the wraparound patio before meeting Shelly Cook, the powerhouse behind it all. Shelly turned her grandfather's cattle farm into this working vineyard, naming it after her Italian great-great-grandfather. It took six years working with Virginia Tech soil experts before she planted her first nine acres in 2019, and the vineyard bottled its first vintage in 2024. Today it spans 88 acres with a tasting room, a restaurant, and lodging, with 20 more cabins planned by late 2026. Right on the property, guests can also stay at Sydonia's Place, a cottage by a fishing pond, or The Villa, a country house that sleeps up to eight, or camp in the Boho Bus, a repurposed school bus set up for dry camping through the summer months.

Shelly is also a contractor and interior designer, and that shows in everything she has built. Old Springhouse, her wedding and event venue on the Reitano grounds, holds up to 250 guests. A short drive away, The Trellis is a separate property she owns, a main house and cottages that sleep 16, built for smaller weddings and reunions.

Beyond her properties, Shelly founded the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, which now serves over 200 families a week, a reminder that her energy goes well beyond hospitality and into the community itself. She has also built real partnerships across Warren County, working with fellow vendors and local businesses to make sure visitors leave with more than just a great glass of wine.
