Vendor Spotlight: Garcia & Gavino

Ace and I stopped into Garcia & Gavino on Main Street and tried everything. Empanadas, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, all of it. Every bite was scrumptious, and we brought a box home to share with my husband and our other adult child, which turned into a full-on scuffle over who got the last of the goodies. By the time we'd left the bakery, we were already talking about how to work together.

Garcia & Gavino is owned by Melissa Garcia and Ivan Gavino, with their son Seth rounding out the family team. Melissa's mom bakes right alongside her in the kitchen, three generations under one roof, which tells you everything about how this bakery runs. The menu blends family heritage and tradition into every item: empanadas, breakfast burritos, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, macarons, and weekend tamales Friday through Sunday, plus custom cakes and full catering for weddings and celebrations.

Community shows up in how they run the business, not just what they bake. Garcia & Gavino regularly partners with local fundraisers through cupcake sponsorships, and their Monthly Tasting Experience gives neighbors a reason to come back and sample something new every month. When King Charles III and Queen Camilla brought their America 250 visit to downtown Front Royal, that same community spirit showed up on short notice: Garcia & Gavino turned out a full lineup of specialty cupcakes, Buckingham Palace, Queens Bloom, Royal Pick Me Up, and more, and sold through much of its inventory that day.

Visit Garcia & Gavino at 200 E Main St in Front Royal to taste it for yourself.
